On Saturday March 5, 2016 goodbye Hogia’r Ddwylan Ilid Anne Jones as the leader of the lads since 1997. A special evening was held at the Bulkeley Hotel, Beaumaris where Ilid was presented with a beautiful plaque from the Dorothea Quarry, Tal-y-Sarn, the village in Nantlle Valley where Ilid is from. Under Ilid’s lead the choir won the at the National Eisteddfod, musical festivals in Britain and abroad, and of course Radio Cymru Choir. The choir have published two CDs, traveled in Belgium, North America, Germany, Ireland and Hungary and conducting scores of concerts in England and Wales. Ilid has lead singing festivals in North America and Australia (twice) by conducting master classes there with male voice choirs. In the photograph are David Williams (Chairman) and John Parry (Secretary) presenting the trophy to Ilid. However the choir is left safe with two young men at the helm. The new leader is Iwan Wyn Williams from Llanberis busy making a name for himself as a successful young musician. Iwan’s place as an accompanist will be taken by Stephen John Evans from Caernarfon who now lives at Clwt y Bont. We wish all the best to both.
